At the recent Australian Romance Readers Convention in Canberra, a few of us who are interested in Regency costume – plus some friends we dragged in! – put on a short fashion parade. Jennifer KLoester, who has written a fantastic biography of Georgette Heyer, MC’d the parade, giving each of us a connection to a Heyer character with the most wonderfully witty character sketches, and describing out outfits briefly.
Things were a little rushed before the parade, especially as it started 15 minutes early after the keynote alcoholism speaker’s voice gave out. So we didn’t quite get our hairdos finished.

L to R: Beverley Eikli, Alison Stuart, me, my niece Lauren (in the first Regency dress she has made herself), Jennifer Kloester, Melissa Craig, and Aylwen Gardiner-Garden, the founder and co-ordinator of the Jane Austen Festival Australia.
More on my muslin dress and blue satin spencer later – when I’ve properly finished both of them!
